Sweat on humid Atlanta afternoons. And unlike a floor, it never gets mopped. It just accumulates, year after year, in a fabric pressed against you for hours a day.

The visible evidence is the darkened headrest and the shine on the armrests. The invisible evidence is the smell you stopped noticing in your own house but that guests register the moment they sit down.

Cleaning it correctly isn't a can of foam from the hardware store. It's fabric-appropriate treatment and proper extraction, and the result is a couch that's brighter, softer, and no longer contributing anything to how the room smells.

When we quote you $40 per piece for upholstery cleaning, this is the work that number covers. Not a summary of it, and not the best-case version of it. This is the list.

• Fabric identification and safe-method selection
• Thorough vacuuming including crevices and under cushions
• Pre-treatment of soiled areas and spots
• Extraction cleaning appropriate to the material
• Cushions cleaned on all faces
• Deodorizing treatment
• Arms, headrests, and high-contact zones detailed

If something you need is not on that list, say so when you text. It is nearly always something we can add, and it is far better to agree it beforehand than to have you disappointed by an omission neither of us discussed.
