Ceiling Fan Cleaning

$15per fan

Blades, housing, and light fixtures cleaned, so your fan stops redistributing dust into the room.

Your ceiling fan is a dust launcher.

There's a gray felt along the leading edge of every blade. You can see it if you stand under it and look up, which nobody does. And every time you turn that fan on, a portion of it goes airborne and lands on the furniture, the bedding, and the floor you just cleaned.

That's why some rooms seem to get dusty again within days no matter how thoroughly they're cleaned. You're cleaning the room and then running a device that redistributes dust back across it on a loop.

For anyone with allergies this is not a minor detail. The fan in the bedroom you sleep under eight hours a night is worth $15 to clean.

What the job actually involves

When we quote you $15 per fan for ceiling fan cleaning, this is the work that number covers. Not a summary of it, and not the best-case version of it. This is the list.

  • Each blade cleaned top and bottom
  • Leading edge dust buildup removed
  • Motor housing and downrod wiped
  • Attached light fixtures and globes cleaned
  • Pull chains and switches wiped
  • Dust contained rather than scattered into the room

If something you need is not on that list, say so when you text. It is nearly always something we can add, and it is far better to agree it beforehand than to have you disappointed by an omission neither of us discussed.

Contained, not scattered

The common mistake is dry-dusting a fan blade, which sends most of the dust straight down onto the bed and floor. We use a method that captures dust on the cloth instead of releasing it, which is why we do fans before we do floors, never after.

High ceilings and vaulted rooms are fine. We carry what we need to reach them safely.

A seasonal habit worth keeping

Fans that run year-round should be cleaned every few months. Fans that reverse seasonally are worth doing at each changeover. You're going to notice it anyway the first week you run them the other direction.

Recurring clients often have us rotate fans through as part of the regular schedule so it never becomes a job.
