Why all of this is on the page

Most cleaning companies won’t tell you a price until they have your address and a phone call with you. There is a reason for that, and it isn’t a good one.

Pricing on a call lets a company quote you on what it guesses you can afford. The postcode does some of that work, the sound of your voice does some more, and how urgently you seem to need it does the rest. You will never see the comparison, because you only ever get quoted once. That is the entire point of the arrangement.

The rate for an oven is forty dollars whether you live in a studio in Midtown or a house in Buckhead.

What genuinely does move a number is scope, and there are only a few things in that category: how many square feet, how many bathrooms, how long it has been since the last proper clean, and how much has built up in the meantime. Those are facts about the job rather than facts about you, and they are the only reason our numbers ever change.

It is also why some services here are hourly and some start “from” a figure rather than at one. A nine hundred square foot apartment that is kept tidy and a three thousand square foot house that hasn’t been deep cleaned since the previous owner aren’t the same work, and charging both a single flat rate means the first customer is paying part of the second one’s bill. We would rather charge you for the hours your home actually takes.

What you can expect, specifically

You get a firm number before we begin. Not after the work, and not at your door on the morning when you have already cleared the afternoon and saying no has become socially expensive. If we get somewhere and find the job is materially bigger than what you described, we stop and tell you what it will cost before we carry on, and you are free to say no.

We will also tell you when the cheaper option is the right one. If a one hundred and fifty dollar basic clean will serve you and a deep clean would be money spent on something you don’t need yet, that is what we will say. It is not charity. We would rather have you booked every two weeks for the next four years than feel, once, that we sold you something.

Nobody should have to make a phone call to find out what a clean costs.
