It's the first thing a guest's eye lands on. It's the last thing anyone cleans.

Baseboards collect a specific kind of grime: dust that settles, moisture that grabs it, shoe scuffs, pet hair, and mop splash that dries into a gray line. Because it sits at ankle height, you don't see it when you're standing. You see it when you're sitting on the couch, or on the floor with a kid, or the moment you're taking a photo of a room and suddenly the edges look filthy.

Cleaning them properly means getting down there with a cloth, section by section, all the way around every room, including behind furniture and around door frames. It's slow, it's hard on your back, and it's the first thing cut when you're short on time, which is to say it never gets done.

At $15 a room you can pick the rooms that matter and be done with it.

What the job actually involves

When we quote you $15 per room for baseboard cleaning, this is the work that number covers. Not a summary of it, and not the best-case version of it. This is the list.

• Baseboards hand-wiped along the full length
• Top ledge and bottom edge both cleaned
• Door frames and casings wiped
• Corner buildup removed
• Scuff marks spot-treated
• Behind accessible furniture included

If something you need is not on that list, say so when you text. It is nearly always something we can add, and it is far better to agree it beforehand than to have you disappointed by an omission neither of us discussed.
