Carpet Cleaning
Deep extraction that pulls soil out of the fiber, not a surface shampoo that leaves residue behind.
Vacuuming only gets what's on top.
Carpet fiber is designed to hide dirt, and it's very good at it. What a vacuum lifts is the loose surface layer. What stays is everything that has worked its way down to the base of the pile over the years: tracked-in soil, skin cells, pet dander, dust mite waste, and whatever got spilled and blotted rather than extracted.
You see the evidence in traffic lanes: the darker path from the door to the couch that doesn't respond to vacuuming because the dirt isn't on the carpet, it's in it. You smell it on humid days when moisture reactivates what's down there, particularly in homes with pets.
Hot water extraction flushes the fiber from the base up and pulls the water back out with the soil in it. That's the difference between carpet that looks vacuumed and carpet that's actually clean.
What the job actually involves
When we quote you $40 per room for carpet cleaning, this is the work that number covers. Not a summary of it, and not the best-case version of it. This is the list.
- Pre-vacuum to remove surface debris
- Pre-treatment of traffic lanes and visible spots
- Hot water extraction through the full pile depth
- Spot treatment for stains and pet accidents
- Deodorizing treatment
- Grooming of the pile for even drying
- Fans placed on request to speed drying
If something you need is not on that list, say so when you text. It is nearly always something we can add, and it is far better to agree it beforehand than to have you disappointed by an omission neither of us discussed.
What $40 a room covers
Standard bedroom and living-room-sized areas are $40 each. Very large open-plan spaces, stairs, and hallways are quoted separately, since stairs in particular take longer per square foot than any other carpeted area.
Heavy pet contamination or set-in staining may need additional treatment beyond the standard rate. We'll look first and tell you what's realistic before doing the work, including when something is unlikely to come out entirely.
Drying time and what to expect
Carpet is typically dry in four to eight hours depending on pile depth, humidity, and airflow. We extract as much moisture as the equipment allows, and we can set fans to speed it up.
Stay off the carpet while it dries where you can, and keep pets off it. Walking on damp carpet re-soils it from whatever's on your feet.
Pet households
Pet accidents that soaked into the pad are a different problem than surface stains. Surface extraction cleans the fiber but doesn't reach contamination beneath it, which is why an odor can return days later on a warm afternoon.
We'll tell you honestly when we think a spot goes deeper than the carpet. Overselling a treatment that won't solve your problem isn't how we want to work.
