The pile on the dining table exists because there's no defined place for mail. The closet is chaos because it was never set up, just gradually filled. The garage has become the room where everything goes when it doesn't belong anywhere else, and now you can't park in it.

So you reorganize. You spend a Saturday on it, it looks great, and within three weeks it's back exactly how it was, because you tidied without changing the underlying system. Tidying is temporary. A system is what holds.

That's the actual work: deciding where categories of things live, matching that to how you genuinely move through your day, and making the right place the easiest place. Done properly, the space stays organized without effort, because staying organized stops requiring any.

What the job actually involves

When we quote you $50 per hour for organization services, this is the work that number covers. Not a summary of it, and not the best-case version of it. This is the list.

• Full sort: keep, donate, discard, relocate
• Category grouping by how you actually use the space
• Zone design matched to your daily routine
• Shelf, drawer, and closet layout planning
• Labeling for anything that isn't self-evident
• Donation items bagged and staged for pickup
• Container recommendations sized to your space
• A walkthrough so you know how to maintain it

If something you need is not on that list, say so when you text. It is nearly always something we can add, and it is far better to agree it beforehand than to have you disappointed by an omission neither of us discussed.
