And it isn't just clients. Your team notices too. A break room that stays gross communicates something about how much the business cares, and people calibrate their own standards to it. Cleanliness is one of the cheapest signals of competence a business can buy, and one of the most expensive to fake once it's gone.

Meanwhile the actual cleaning falls to whoever is least able to say no, usually your office manager, usually after hours, usually badly. That is not what you hired them for.

What the job actually involves

• Reception, lobby, and common-area detail
• Restroom cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking
• Break room and kitchen sanitizing
• Desk, workstation, and conference room surfaces
• Glass doors, partitions, and interior windows
• Trash and recycling removal
• Floor care: vacuuming, mopping, and edging
• High-touch point disinfecting (handles, switches, rails)

If something you need is not on that list, say so when you text. It is nearly always something we can add, and it is far better to agree it beforehand than to have you disappointed by an omission neither of us discussed.
